The inspiration for Sheldon came from my experiences scuba diving, surrounded by the calm rhythm of the sea and the quiet grace of sea turtles moving effortlessly through the water. Those memories have never left me. Whenever life feels busy or overwhelming, I often find myself reflecting on those peaceful moments beneath the waves, where everything seemed to slow down and the rest of the world simply faded away.
When I created Sheldon, I found myself thinking about how rarely we allow ourselves to simply be still. In today's world, we're constantly rushing from one thing to the next, always focused on what's coming next instead of appreciating where we are right now. Drawing wildlife has always been my way of slowing down and reconnecting with the natural world, and I wanted this piece to carry that same feeling into the homes of others.
Sea turtles have long symbolised wisdom, patience and resilience. They don't fight against the current; they move with it. Sheldon is a gentle reminder that life doesn't always have to be lived at full speed.
